Bailey is by far one of the sweetest people I have ever met! And a piece of cake to photograph! She is not only completely gorgeous on the outside, but has the most beautiful heart on the inside! I truly enjoyed photographing her. She asked me a while ago to shoot her senior pictures... and here are just a few of my favorites.

This is just how sweet this girl is... She brought me a gift! An awesome pad with "C"s on each page!! It's perfect for me because I am always doodling and making lists on everything. Thank you Bailey!! You're the best!

Okay... so I've been working really hard on the new blog and it's coming along so nicely that I had to stop by here for a minute just to mention it!! :) It's going to be WAY cooler than this blog... like, it's going to kick this blog's booty! :) It will have different pages that have all sorts of neat info, frequently asked questions, and more! Not to mention it will be prettier! It'll almost be it's own little website. I'm excited!

I don't have a date for when it will be launched... but my goal is for it to be online in March sometime! YAY!

New Years in New York City

I had my logo installed on the back of my car today. Hooollllaa!! I am so excited about my new branding. I think it suits me and my style perfectly. :) YAY!

Sarah and Steffan get married!

I met Sarah several years ago. Long before Steffan was in the picture. I actually shot her sister's wedding 4 or 5 years ago! Sarah told me then that someday I would be her wedding photographer. She kept her word, booked me 2 years ago as soon as she got engaged and we have been planning everything since then. I must say, planning your wedding 2 years is a really good idea if you can manage it because her wedding went incredibly smooth. I was very impressed by everything. Myrna Miller from Walnut Street coordinated the whole thing and she a fabulous job! The wedding took place at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Orleans, and the reception was held at the Omni Royal Orleans Hotel. Both venues were beautiful and everything flowed perfectly.

Courtney from Salon Indigo in Lafayette did everyone's hair and makeup. She is AMAZING at what she does and definitely has a gift. I highly recommend her.

Sarah and I went back to our hotel room after the rehearsal dinner was over... then we were suddenly visited by two of Sarah's best friends, Wes and Stephen. They decided to be complete goobers and put hair extensions on their head! They were cracking us both up! It was hysterical!

THE BIG DAY...

Becky (Sarah's sister, and past bride I shot) recently traveled to Ethiopia with her husband to adopt this precious baby whom they named Ezra. He is one of the most calm and content babies I have ever seen. I adore him!

The wedding was absolutely beautiful. The bride entered to a choir singing "Kissing You" by Desiree from the movie Romeo and Juliet. It gave me goosebumps!

These two were so obviously made for one another. It was so much fun watching them interact with each other.

And this is where Amy decided to get on stage and sing "Rollin' on the River" by Tina Turner. Priceless!

I was blown away by the band that performed at the reception. MoJeaux (pronounced Mojo) is their name and they could sing any genre of music! Any song you wanted, they knew it and were very good at it!

Thank you Sarah and Steffan for welcoming me to join you on such a beautiful night. I am honored I was able to experience and capture your wedding day. I had an amazing time!

Hayden

Hayden is almost 3yrs old and he definitely knows how to give you a workout!! He is so cute, but very active! :o) I went out with Hayden, his mom and dad last week to shoot their family pictures. We got a lot of cute stuff as we chased him around! ;) Hayden's cousin is Blakeleigh whom I've been photographing since she was born! If you notice, Hayden looks a lot like Blakeleigh!

I know I'm skipping over several other sessions to blog this first... but they were just so cute and I know his mom and dad (and Blakeleigh's mother! Love you Chas!!) are dying to see them so I decided to post some of my favorites.

You may remember my insanely gorgeous friend and model, Jessica, from the super fun photo shoot I did of her and her husband in California. A few months ago, I shot a wedding at Oak Alley Plantation (which is a gorgeous place to get married! Highly recommend it!). Ashley Toman was the harpist for the wedding and she did a great job! If you're a bride looking for a harpist, be sure to look her up, you won't be disappointed! I snapped these shots of her playing...

New logo!

I've been thinking about changing my logo recently. I finally did it! It's still a lot like the other one but instead of it being "arte*dellafiora" it will now just be my name. :) Arte Dellafiora was hard for a lot of people to say so I made it simpler.

Here is the new logo! I might still change it up a bit in the future, but for now this will be it! What do you think?

By the way, had an amazing time in NYC! VERY cool place! I want to go again... but when it's not 0 degrees outside! It was FREEZING! It snowed all day the first day we were there, which was beautiful. I took a lot of cool pictures that I will be sure to post once I get caught up on some work!

In 13 hours I will be boarding a plane out of Atlanta headed to New York City to celebrate the new year in Time Square! YAY!!! I'm sooooo excited!! I'll be there for 3 days experiencing the big apple!

I wanted to write this last blog post of the year since I won't be able to blog in NYC. I'm pretty excited because I started this blog last year on New Years Eve 2007. That means the blog is officially one year old tomorrow! When I started it, I never realized the huge role it would play in my world of photography. It's been fun!

Now that I've completed my new website, my next project is redesigning this blog. It will be SO MUCH BETTER. It will have a fabulous new look, be more user friendly, and be much more organized. I just know you will all love it! It should be complete in early 2009!

As this year ends, and the new one begins... I'd like to wish you all a wonderful new year. Never give up on your dreams... they CAN all come true! :)

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

At every photoshoot, there are ALWAYS those hilarious shots that I snap in between the "good" shots. The ones where because of the awkwardness of being photographed, the subjects in front of the lens feel the need to act like a total goober by doing the craziest things. I LOVE IT!!! The next 3 photos are some examples of what I am talking about from 2 different sessions.

The first 2 are from one of my favorite families in the world! The Guffey fam! I'll be posting their session soon, but for now...

These four brothers are so silly!

Jeff loves to be the center of attention 24/7. You can see that here as he hops in and ruins a perfectly intimate family portrait. ;)

I'm organizing and cleaning out my closet today and I came to realize I have a true obsession! SHOES!! I decided to count every pair that I have. I refuse to tell you the number... just know that it's a whole lot! (I'm not as bad as Carrie Bradshaw though!) I just love shoes! They make you feel so good everytime you get a new pair! I know most women can truly relate to me on this. Men don't get it... it's just part of our DNA! We can't help it! :)

I need a bigger closet. This is one of my favorite pairs!

It's finally here!!

Okay, so I think the website is officially up for everyone (I hope!). It's taken me so long to get it finished but I kept my promise to myself and everyone that it would be up this month!! YAY!! It always feels sooooo good to accomplish your goals! I'm so very proud of the new site and hope you are able to enjoy it!

It's not 100% complete yet, but at least I got it online! Whew! I'll continuously be adding new material to it so always be sure to check back! I know in the past I haven't always been too diligent on keeping my website updated... But I promise this time that won't happen!

There are so many incredible changes coming up in my life which I am so excited about! A HUGE one is that I am finally going into business on my own. A lot of you know I have worked at another photography company for over 7 years. So this is a BIG DEAL! I cannot express how stoked out of my mind I am about this! I always knew it would happen one day... just never knew when! I can honestly say it's happening at the most perfect time in my life. God has truly been SOOOO GOOD to me! I cannot thank Him enough for the many things he has blessed me with. I truly feel like the luckiest girl on this planet. There are so many exciting things to come for me in 2009! As things unfold, I will be sure to share everything that is happening with you all!

Quick update

It's December 1st... I've been on vacation in Atlanta this past week for the Thanksgiving holidays and I did NOT want to come back and face reality! I was really enjoying not working, eating lots of delicious food, sleeping in, and spending time with amazing people. I have SO MUCH TO DO before this month ends... actually, I have to get it all done before Christmas! I'm so excited though because right after Christmas I am hopping on a plane to NEW YORK CITY for New Years! YEEAHH!!! I am soooo pumped! That is going to be such an amazing trip and I am geeked out of my mind about it!

ANYWHO-- I just wanted to let you know that I plan on launching my new website before December is over! I'm SUCH a perfectionist and the reason it's taking me so long to finish it is because I never feel like it's good enough, or complete. So I've just decided that I am just going to launch it even if I don't feel like it's done. No more putting it off, or excuses. Just going to do it. Period.

Wish me luck because this next month is literally going to be the busiest month my life has ever seen! Here we go!

Busy Little Bee

The rest of this month through December is going to be VERY busy for me! I'm just warning you! From now until New Years I have several weddings, photo shoots, my regular work schedule, lots of traveling, the holidays, etc!! But I have soooo many great shoots coming up that you are all going to just love! I am so very excited about it all, my brain is oozing with ideas that I can't wait to try out!! So I apologize now but I guarantee you this blog isn't going to get updated nearly as much as I will want it to in the next few weeks! Boooooo! I promise to try my very hardest even if it's just a teaser here and there. ;)

Life is going tremendously right now! Busy, but incredible! God is so good to me, I really don't know why sometimes... but what I do know is I am so grateful for it! He is an amazing Father and I am so lucky to be His child!!! I have never been happier than I am right now!

Finally! Some time to blog! Get ready, cause this one is going to be a long one! I'm combining three different sessions into this one blog post! WHEW! It's all dedicated to families and children. I have more pictures to put on here, but this should give you all something to look at for a bit.

FIRST OFF! -- Emily and Jon's beautiful family! Okay so I love this girl. I have known Em for about 12 years now. She was homeschooled just like me and became one of my dearest friends! This girl is AMAZING!!! I can't say it enough... she was my inspiration and someone who truly impacted my life when I was a teenager. Em is truly a real lifelong friend. :) I love you EM!

She has a GORGEOUS family! They live in Houston now, but we managed to squeeze this session in at 7:30am on a Saturday morning while they were in town for business! I'm glad we did because look how great they all look!! ---

I shot Emily and Jon's wedding back in March 2001... which was one of the first weddings I ever shot. I had to dig and dig to find this picture, but it was well worth it! Good 'ol 35mm film! This was a totally candid moment by the way!

NEXT -- Keesha and Aaron! I met Keesha a couple of years ago. I was supposed to shoot her wedding, but she had to change her date on me and I was already booked on that particular date so I wasn't able to! Which was a huge bummer for not only her, but me! However, I was able to shoot her bridal and engagement though and we totally hit it off and have been friends ever since! I love it when clients turn into friends! Keesha and I have a lot of laughs and always have a great time together as well as great conversations. She is a huge support in my life and has a great heart! She has a beautiful family!

Sean's Senior Pics Part 1

Sean told, not asked, told... me about a year ago that I would be shooting his senior pics even before he was a senior. It was so cute how serious he was about it. Not that I would have said no, but if I had wanted to, there was no way he was going to take no for an answer. He knew what he wanted and he was going to get it! And he did!! Below are a few pictures from the first part of his senior pictures. We will be shooting the 2nd part in the spring before he graduates. Sean is such a great guy and has such a tender and sweet heart. I know Sean is going to go on and do great things with his life! I fully believe in him!! He comes from a TREMENDOUS family whom I adore.

Cecilia, who is my best friend Zoe's baby, got baptized today and you better believe I was there with my camera!!! I got so many good shots that I will have to post later but I just love the one below!!! She was an absolute doll and behaved so well the whole time. She is such an adorable baby and definitely got Zoe's personality which is sweet, kind, happy and full of life!! I love this baby!!!!

I just love this shoot! Jen and Juice did such an amazing job in front of the camera. We've been talking about doing this for a long time. Jen is super shy and has been nervous about it but she did amazing! Juice is a ham so I knew he wouldn't have a problem! Haha! They are such a great couple and I'm so glad we were finally able to make this happen. All their pictures are so good... it was seriously hard to pick some for the blog.

They were taken in Juice's backyard. He had all kinds of run down junk just piled everywhere. It was perfect!!

Safetysuit

Okay so I love this band. They are very new but have very quickly become one of my favorites. All of their songs are really good. I was already addicted to them before I saw them in concert. Ya know how sometimes bands sound good on their cd, but not live? Well these guys surpassed my expectations! They were even better live! I already can't wait to see them again!

Even though I rarely do it, I've always really enjoyed concert photography. It's so different then what I normally shoot. So it's a challenge, but I really like it.

Definitely pick up Safetysuit - Life Left to Go if you get a chance. It's well worth it!

I love how I caught him in the air. Awesome.

They are three weeks old! They are growing so fast! They can run around now and get into all kinds of trouble. And they are starting to get all needy and like to howl sometimes. It's hilariously cute, but annoying sometimes too! I just love them to death! Puppies are so much fun! I am an animal lover all the way.

By the way, getting these pictures wasn't easy!!

So ya know how we all have that list of things we want to do before we die? Well this has been on my list for many years now. I am so excited! Yesterday I finally got my street bike and I am thrilled! A dream come true! YAY!!! I really never thought I'd do it. But it's true that if you believe in yourself, and in your dreams, ANYTHING is possible! Determination and faith can get you very far in life. A good attitude is key as well.

I'm off into the sunset with my new toy. It's SOOO MUCH FUN! See you around!! ;)

Today is my BEAUTIFUL friend's birthday! VEGAS! I met her about 5 years ago when I worked at the Cheesecake Bistro. I was already working there when she started and as soon as I saw her, I knew we'd be friends. I also knew I wanted to photograph her. She is soooo photogenic and has modeled for me a few times. She is not only beautiful on the outside... but also deeply amazing on the inside. She is sooo talented and has so much to give. She is someone I will ALWAYS love. I am so honored to be a part of her life and very blessed to have her as my friend. I know that anyone who is lucky enough to know her would agree. I love you Jen!

A little over a week ago, my dog Mischa had her puppies. 6 of them!! -- They are so adorable! I just love them! They have already doubled in size since they have been born.

Last time I shot Aaron and Melinda, we ran out of light too soon and I wasn't ready to quit shooting! So we decided to take some more on another day. :) They really have a ton of great shots... which you'll get to see more of on my new website. But for now here are a few.

I love this shoot. Love, love, love it. My friends were great to work with. It doesn't hurt that she is DROP DEAD GORGEOUS!! He is a goober and straight up funny where as she is sweet, calm and collected. He scored big! ;) On a serious note though, they are both wonderful people and I'm so honored they asked me to take their pictures. We had such a good time!

BY THE WAY -- You've probably noticed the blog looks a tad different. I rearranged it some so that I can post larger pictures on here instead of those small ones. (That was driving me a little crazy!) All of the page elements that were on the right hand side are now at the bottom of the page. :)

It's becoming a regular tradition! I can't complain though... I LOOOOOOVE California!! Any chance to go... you better believe I'm taking it! Can't wait to go again.

Yes, I like the band... but that's not what this blog post is about. :) It just hit me today that this year is my 10 year anniversary as a photographer!

Yes, 10 years ago... at the age of 15, I bought my first camera (with the help of my wonderful grandma). I worked at the 4h LSU mini farm taking care of stinky little animals for a week and made as much money as I could. My grandma said she would pay for the rest to help me get my camera. She was the one person I always remember believing in me, telling me I had "the eye" to be a photographer. If it weren't for her, I might not be a photographer today. :) I bought the Nikon N50 and used that thing for years!! It was an awesome camera even though it was good 'ol film.

Over the years I have learned so much and taken approximately 23,589,268,187 photos. (yes, I counted) ;) I am sooo happy I get to do what I love and what I'm super passionate about. Not only does expressing myself through my art make me happy, it's also an incredible blessing to be able to touch someone else's life with it. I love it!!

So I went and found the album that has some of my very first photos I took with my Nikon in it... and found a couple to show you all. Don't laugh! I was just starting out! I used my sister as a practice subject A LOT. Isn't she cute???

So happy anniversary to me! YAY! I can't wait to see how I've grown in my talent in 10 more years!!

I Heart California

I spent part of this past week in sunny San Diego, California. And I had SO MUCH FUN! I was flown in to shoot a wedding (those photos will come later) and while I was there I decided to take advantage of the beautiful place and do a photoshoot of my friends Dan and Jess. I've known Dan since we were little kids living in the jungles of Peru. Wow, that was a long time ago. Man, good times.... good times. Dan grew up and married a BEEE YOU TEA FULL girl. Not only is she gorgeous, but has such an awesome personality. Her and I are alot alike ( wink wink Jess ;) ) You scored good Dan. I love you both! Anyways, ever since I met Jess I've always wanted to photograph her. I knew the instant I met her she'd be so much fun to work with. And boy was I right! I'm not sure if I've ever had more fun on a photoshoot. She was such a natural with the camera. I've been wanting to shoot a girl having fun in a wedding gown and not worry about it getting messed up. I got this gown for her to wear and it fit her perfectly! I was ecstatic about that.

I shot about a million photos of her and Dan but here are just a few of my favorites. It was soooo hard to narrow them down. They did soooo well!!!

Last night I photographed the sweetest couple! Remember Nicole?? Her wedding was last night and I got sooo many great pictures! Her and her groom Blake are sooo sweet! (It doesn't hurt that they are both photogenic either!) Neither one of them stopped smiling all night. I had a great time. I absolutely love photographing weddings. Especially when the couple is so happy like Blake and Nicole. They were a truly inspiring, lovely couple.

Now that I've teased you all... I just wanted to let you know I will post some of their pictures, as well as many other shoots I'm doing in the near future! I have so many fun things coming up! Keep checking!

Slacking...

Okay so I realize I've been slacking a bit on this... but I have been SUPER BUSY! I moved back to Baton Rouge from Peru and I seriously hit the ground running. I then proceeded to get sick with this stupid cold going around... then yesterday I fainted! Why? I'm still not sure. Could be a combination of many things, but I've never fainted before so that was just incredibly weird. God had his angels watching out for me though cause I could have gotten hurt alot worse than I did. I'm a little banged up but no broken bones and no cuts. :) YAY! God is good!
